About the Vacation Rental Unit:

Welcome to the main house of the historic Childress House, built in 1847 and filled with nearly 180 years of Tennessee history. Once owned by Major John Childress, brother of First Lady Sarah Childress Polk, the home is associated with the family of President James K. Polk. Sarah Polk is also known to have visited the home.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Childress House is recognized for its architectural and historical significance. In the 1930s, portions of the property were converted into apartments, adding another chapter to its long residential story.

Today, the main house offers three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and comfortable accommodations for up to eight guests. Its location near downtown Murfreesboro makes it especially well suited for families and groups looking to stay together while experiencing a genuine piece of local history.
